Behind the Scenes with
Three-Eight Charlie
Screenwriter Dan Pimentel

In the 30 years that I have been a published writer, I have never come across a project that has ignited my internal fires like Three-Eight Charlie.

Add to that my lifelong passion for flight, and it is easy to see why I am very excited to make the development of Three-Eight Charlie my defining career project.

For those who do not know me, you must surely be asking…why? Why would one woman’s flight around the world in 1964 be so important to a guy who is happily living a creative life in Eugene, Oregon, one of the most creative places anywhere?

To understand how this project has progressed to this point on its journey towards a green light and production, let me invite you to first read my AOPA Pilot Article about Jerrie Mock so you can get to know her "history."

After you read "Aviation's Forgotten Pioneer", I think you'll agree this is a story any screenwriter could love. As a pilot, writing Three-Eight Charlie is oh so sweet. – dan
